Factors to Consider When Getting Gun Vaults

The high increase of burglaries and crime levels has increased the risk of homes and offices being broken into.

The high increase of burglaries and crime levels has increased the risk of homes and offices being broken into. For gun owners, this is always a reality and a danger they would like to avoid thus the need for gun vaults and home safes where they can secure their guns and other valuables. Home security is a matter of great concern and heavy duty safes have become the way out for many home owners who posses guns. No one would want losing such a valuable item or have their means of defense turned against them. It is therefore important that when one considers of getting such equipment all the factors are considered.

The first thing one should consider is security; the ease of breaking into the safe. With time any appropriate safe could be broken into. However, for the gun vaults and home safes, you would need one that will discourage the burglar by needing a lot of time to break hence they leave it. Most burglars would go to the extent of carrying the home gun vaults and even heavy duty safes by simply rolling them over balls and could even come with a dolly to ferry the safe. This calls for one to look for quality gun safes that come with pre drilled holes. This allows one to drill it to the concrete floors and thus prevent it from being ferried away. This therefore discourages from attempting to go away with your heavy duty safes and gun vaults. It is also important that one fits alarm systems on their home safes to place any burglar under pressure thus secure their handgun safes.

One has to look at the kind of welding done on the safes. A lot of welding provides more weak points on the safe for burglars to try and get in using various simple tools. At other times, for the sake of the appearance most manufacturers would polish the welding so much that it compromises on the strength of the welding making it easier for the burglars to pry it open. Another factor to consider would be the design of the home safe. The ideal gun vaults would be without any kind of welding but one seamless unit. However, this is impossible and the best option one would use it to have one with as few welding edges as possible. Preferably, robot welded safes are a good option for home safes. The metal thickness is another aspect that needs to be considered. The 10 gauge steel should be the thinnest one goes for.

The doors of most heavy duty safes are made of thick steel and this prevents attack. However, it is important that one takes gun vaults with inside hinges to prevent the burglars from breaking them. It is also important that the door has bolts on all sides four on the two sides and one on the top and bottom. Having bolts on one side only provides opportunity for the thieves to break easily into the heavy duty safes making it ineffective against burglary attempts. One has to consider all these factors if the home safe is to be indeed a safe place for guns.
